Artificial Intelligence has the potential to reshape the landscape of research and innovation; it brings not only opportunities but also profound challenges. Carlos Pereira Santos (Professor of Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at BUas) discussed those during the 17th online DIGIREAL lunch meeting.

During the first part of the meeting, we examine the role of AI within academic and institutional settings, where these challenges highlight the urgent need for ethically aligned, sovereign, and research-centric AI solutions. The second part introduces AIDA (AI-enhanced Data Analysis), an integrated, end-to-end research tool currently being developed at BUas. Designed to support and streamline qualitative research processes, AIDA is tailored to academic qualitative workflows, grounded in European values, and contributes to both digital and research autonomy.
